Steve May is an animation director & freelance illustrator based in London (UK).
He was born in 1968 in sunny Hastings & spent his childhood drawing lots of things & discovering interesting ways of injuring himself.
After studying Fine Art painting & film-making in Nottingham & stints playing with a few unsuccessful pop bands, Steve completed an MA in Animation at the Royal College of Art & currently works as a successful London based freelance illustrator & animation director.
As an animation director he is represented by Picasso Pictures & has directed several short films including the award winning ‘Gut’ & 'X&Y' which… more was picked for the 2008 British Animation Awards, & worked widely in TV & commercials including designing & directing ‘Spacehopper Man’ for the acclaimed cult BBC series ‘Monkeydust’
As an illustrator represented by Arena illustration agents Steve has worked widely in editorial, childrens publishing & advertising for clients including The Guardian, Harper Collins, Marks & Spencer & BP.
He still draws lots but injures himself less regularly these days. less
